3D Fighting Game Archive Card Pandora Game Console

3D fighters that actually run right

The 3D Fighting Game Archive Card is for fighters with a third dimension: sidesteps and ring-outs in polygon arenas. Plenty of retro boxes say they handle 3D games and then stutter through them. We would rather list fewer games that play properly, so every fighter on this card was tested on Pandora Platinum Pro hardware before it went on the list.

Most of these came out between the mid 90s and the early 2000s, when Namco and Sega, then Capcom and Tecmo, were each working out what a 3D fighting game should feel like. You can see those experiments side by side here. Bushido Blade has no health bar at all. Power Stone 2 lets you pick up the furniture and throw it. Tekken 3 is just very good Tekken.

What is on the card

• Tekken 3 (PS1), Tekken 5 and Tekken 6
• Soul Calibur and Soul Blade
• Power Stone 2
• Virtua Fighter 3tb
• Dead or Alive 2
• Bloody Roar
• Rival Schools 2 Project Justice
• Bushido Blade
• Mortal Kombat 4 Gold
• Ehrgeiz and Street Fighter EX 2

There are stranger picks further down, a couple of them from the N64, and you can read all of them with Click for Game List in the builder. The videos on this page show a few of the games running on the console.

Buttons, pads and the stick

These games come mostly from the PS1 and Dreamcast years, with some PSP and Naomi titles mixed in, and a few expect more buttons than an arcade panel has by default. The Pro board lets you set the buttons per game and save that layout, so you only do it once. If you would rather hold a pad for the PS1 and Dreamcast titles, a PlayStation-style controller works well with them. Tekken 3 on a Sanwa stick is still hard to beat, though.

Putting it in your console

Pick the 3D Fighting Game Archive Card in any of the three card slots when you build your Pandora Game Console. The card goes into the back of the console and its games appear in the menu. Pair it with Fighting Masters and you have most of the fighting games, 2D and 3D, that people ask us about.

You need a Pandora Platinum Pro console for this card. Older Pandora Platinum models and consoles built around any non Pandora Platinum mainboard will not.

The game list carries its own note: we can remove archived games at any time if we deem it necessary, and we offer no guarantee of expected performance of your backup. Archive cards are not covered by the console warranty.

**Pandora Game Console consoles do not come with any pre-installed licensed or unlicensed software. Any Added Archive service is provided as-is with no implied warranties or licenses. Performance of archive has been tested and will work with your Pandora Platinum Pro version console.
