Pandora Game Console Countertop Arcade Machine

Two players, one counter

Our Countertop Arcade Machine is a complete two player arcade in a cabinet short enough to sit on a kitchen island, a bar top or a desk. A Pandora Game Console Platinum mainboard runs it, with an archive of thousands of games covering the last 40 years, and it can take coins or run as free play.

Some people call this style a countercade. You stand at it or pull up a stool, the screen faces you at eye level, and the controls sit right under your hands. It is the closest thing to a cabinet you can put on furniture you already own.

What's built in

Full spread means each player gets a complete stick and button layout with real room between the two, so nobody plays with an arm tucked against their side. The metal casing matters on a machine that lives on a counter, where it gets bumped, leaned on and occasionally pushed across the surface by a kid who wants a better angle.

Keys, coins and free play

The coin acceptor works the way it did at the arcade: drop a coin, get a credit. The key set locks the coin box and the back panel, which keeps the money and the wiring away from curious hands. Put it in a break room, a barbershop or a family game room, and the coin slot gives the machine a bit of real arcade character.

At home you may not want to charge your own friends. Set it to free play and the coin slot stays out of the way.

Out of the box, this Pandora Game Console countertop has the Standard Pandora Platinum Motherboard. The Upgrade to Pandora Platinum Pro Board option swaps in our Pro mainboard, which plays an even wider range of games. Get the Official Sanwa Upgrade?

The sticks and buttons can be upgraded to official Sanwa parts, the same JLF joysticks and buttons found in most Japanese arcade cabinets. A JLF has a short throw and a firm return to center, and the difference shows up fast in fighting games where you are rolling quarter circles all night. The Sanwa buttons need less force than standard arcade buttons and feel quicker under your fingers.

For beat 'em ups and shooters the default parts do the job. If the countertop will spend most of its life running Street Fighter style games, we would put the money into the joysticks first.

Performance of archive has been tested and will work with your Pandora Platinum Pro version console. Adding an archive card constitutes your acknowledgement of ownership of original licensed hardware/software and your request of the service permits us to perform archiving for you on your behalf as a service.
