Mario Kart Madness & Friends Pandora Archive Card

Mario Kart Madness & Friends is the card for living-room races and the arguments that follow them. Mario Kart 64 is the headline, and the card goes a long way past it, into Mario platformers, arcade drivers, PS1 Need for Speed and a stack of PSP racers.

A lot of people buy it for a practical reason. Discs get scratched and old cartridges stop booting, and a service you bought games from can shut down. An archive on a card keeps playing long after the original media gives up.

Kart and platform classics

• Mario Kart 64, Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart Super Circuit
• Super Mario 64 and Wave Race
• Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World
• Diddy Kong Racing and Crash Team Racing

Diddy Kong Racing still has the best adventure mode of the kart games, and Crash Team Racing has the tightest drifting. Expect someone to defend each of them loudly.

Arcade and console racers

• Out Run and Cruis'n USA from the arcade
• Crazy Taxi
• Need for Speed 3 Hot Pursuit on PS1
• Ridge Racer and Burnout Legends on PSP

Sticks or pads?

Arcade racers like Out Run feel fine on a joystick. The N64 and PSP games were designed around analog sticks and extra buttons, so a lot of owners pair this card with a controller pad. The Pro board supports several controller types, and you can map the buttons per game and save that setup.

Adding the card

Pick Mario Kart Madness & Friends in any of the three archive card slots when you build your Pandora Game Console, after checking the lineup with Click for Game List. The card goes into the back of the console, and you can swap it for one of your other cards any time.

Only Pandora Platinum Pro consoles can run this card. Earlier Pandora Platinum models will not take it, and neither will consoles built on a non Pandora Platinum mainboard.

The game list itself notes that archived games can be removed at any time if we deem it necessary, with no guarantee of expected performance of your backup. Archive cards fall outside the console warranty.
