Midway Arcade & Monsters Archive Pandora Game Console

Loud games from a loud decade

The Midway Arcade & Monsters Archive is a card of Midway arcade games plus a few forgotten machines you will not find on an arcade floor anymore. One of them, going by the game list, never shipped at all. If you spent the late 80s and the 90s feeding tokens into anything with a Midway or Williams logo on the side, much of this list will look familiar.

Midway made loud games. Big sprites, two players at once, explosions everywhere and an announcer yelling at you from the cabinet speakers. That style carries over well to a home arcade panel, maybe better than the quieter games of the same years.

The monsters part of the name

Rampage is the obvious place to start. You play a giant monster, the city is made of buildings, and the buildings are there to be punched until they fall over. The card has Rampage along with both of its sequels, World Tour and Universal Tour. Primal Rage swaps the monsters for dinosaurs and giant apes and turns the whole idea into a fighting game, animated in stop motion from real models, which still looks strange in a good way.

The rest of the cabinet row

• Smash TV and Total Carnage
• Gauntlet and Gauntlet Legends
• Spy Hunter
• Arch Rivals
• Hydro Thunder
• WWF Wrestlemania The Arcade Game
• Wizard of Wor
• Doom 64

A few more sit on the list behind Click for Game List, including King of Dragons and Off Road Challenge.

One unreleased game and two bonuses

NBA Jam Rewind is marked on the game list as unreleased, which is a good reason on its own to look at this card if you grew up on NBA Jam. The card also includes two bonus games, Jr Pac Man and Kick.

Two players, one panel

Arch Rivals, Wrestlemania and Gauntlet all get better with a second player, and on a Pandora Game Console the second stick is right next to yours. The videos on this page show some of these games running on the console. Every game on the card was tested on Pandora Platinum Pro hardware for performance before we added it.

Pick the Midway Arcade & Monsters Archive in any of the three card slots when you build your Pandora Game Console. It sits in the back of the console with your other cards, and you can trade it out whenever you like.

The card is made for Pandora Platinum Pro consoles. Other Pandora Platinum models will not run it, and it is not compatible with consoles that use a non Pandora Platinum mainboard.
