About this product
NFL Blitz hit arcades in 1997, and Midway built it the same way it built NBA Jam: real teams, real players, and almost none of the rules. You get seven players a side, thirty yards for a first down, and the freedom to flatten the quarterback well after the whistle. This Pandora Game Console package brings the original arcade version into your living room.
A game of Blitz takes a few minutes and almost always ends with someone yelling. Passes are huge, tackles turn into body slams, and the announcer has something to say about all of it. It is one of the few sports games that people who do not follow football still ask to play.
The game comes on the Best Arcade Sports Games Archive, the only game card offered in the first slot on this page. On the card's list it appears as NFL_Blitz - 2 Player Edition, and the Dreamcast editions of NFL Blitz 2000 and NFL Blitz 2001 are there too, so you can play the sequels without buying another card.
The rest of the card covers most sports you can think of. A few of the titles:
Click for Game List to see the whole card. The other choice in that menu, "No Game Card - YOU WONT HAVE ANY GAMES!", leaves the console empty.
The package is a complete Pandora Platinum Pro home arcade console with an HDMI connection, an AC adapter and an additional set of buttons. The hardware menu offers the Pandora Dual Panel, the Pandora Single Panel and the Pandora Wireless 2 Joystick Separated Edition. With the separated sticks, each player can sit where they want instead of standing shoulder to shoulder at one panel.
Blitz was played on a joystick with a turbo button, and you will lean on that turbo all game. A lever makes it easier to cut back across the field and to spin out of tackles with a quick flick. If you want arcade cabinet parts, "Get the Official Sanwa Upgrade?" offers Sanwa buttons, Sanwa joysticks, or both together. You can also stay with Default Pandora Platinum Hardware. The two videos on this page show the original Blitz running on the console.
Slot two takes the 3 and 4 Player Arcade Games Archive, Mario Kart Madness & Friends or Mortal Kombat Life Retro. The third slot offers the 3D Fighting Game Archive Card, the Retro Arcade Games List Archive or 3 and 4 Player. Each can stay at No Additional Game Archive if one card is enough for now. Cards plug into the back of the Pandora Game Console, and you can add more later.
