About this product
Power Stone 2 took the free-roaming arena fights of the first game and opened them up to four players at once. Capcom released it in 2000 on the Naomi arcade board and the Dreamcast, and this Pandora Game Console package plays it from arcade sticks with the archive card that carries it.
The first Power Stone was a one-on-one game in a room. The sequel throws up to four fighters into stages that move and change while you play. The opening fight is on an airship that breaks apart and drops everyone into a free fall, and other stages scroll, collapse or shift under your feet. You still pick up anything you find, chairs, crates, cannons, swords, and you can still climb walls and swing around posts to get a better angle on whoever has the most health left.
Power Stone 2 is chaotic. Rounds swing on a lucky item drop or on someone collecting three Power Stones and transforming at exactly the wrong moment for you. It is the fighting game we hand to friends who say they do not play fighting games, because button mashing gets you somewhere and good players still win most of the time.
It also has a deeper side. Items collected in the adventure mode can be combined in the item shop to make new ones, which gives solo players something to work at between nights with friends.
A note on player count: the game supports up to four players, while the chassis in this bundle is a two-player setup with two sticks.
Power Stone 2 lives on the 3D Fighting Game Archive Card, which is the card in the first slot on this page. The other first-slot choice is "No Game Card - YOU WONT HAVE ANY GAMES!", and it means a console with nothing to play. The same 3D card also carries the original Power Stone, Soul Calibur, Tekken 5 and Tekken 6. Click for Game List to read the rest.
Slot two offers the 3 and 4 Player Arcade Games Archive, Mortal Kombat Life, Mario Kart Madness & Friends, Neo Geo and Retro Arcade cards. Slot three adds Run & Gun. You can leave either on "No Additional Game Archive".
For the panel, choose the Pandora Single Panel, the Pandora Dual Panel or the Pandora Wireless 2 Joystick Separated Edition. Under Get the Official Sanwa Upgrade? you can keep Default Pandora Platinum Hardware or move to Sanwa buttons, joysticks, or both.
Power Stone 2 plays only on the Pandora Platinum Pro mainboard edition console, and only with the archive card selected as shown. The TV is not included. Both videos on this page show the game being played.
