About this product
Power Stone is the 1999 Capcom fighter that ran on Sega's Naomi arcade board and then came home on the Dreamcast. This Pandora Game Console bundle plays it on a two-player arcade panel, with the archive card that carries it.
Nothing else from that era fought quite like it. There is no fixed lane between two fighters. The stages are full 3D rooms, a tavern, a ship, a mine, and you run, jump and climb around them while your opponent does the same. It is closer to a party game than a tournament fighter, and that is most of its charm.
Anything not nailed down is a weapon. You can pick up a chair or a table and throw it, swing a sword or a hammer you find on the floor, or grab a pole and spin around it to kick whoever is in reach. Gems called Power Stones drop as players take hits. Collect three and your fighter transforms for a short stretch, with a super attack that can turn a losing round around.
The cast is a fun bunch: Falcon the pilot, Ryoma the samurai, Ayame the ninja, Gunrock, Rouge, Jack and the rest. Each one moves differently enough that people tend to pick a favorite on the first night and refuse to switch.
Power Stone needs an archive card, and the first slot on this page must be filled to play it. That slot offers the Fighting Masters Archive Card, which lists Power Stone for the Dreamcast, or "No Game Card - YOU WONT HAVE ANY GAMES!" The second label means exactly what it says.
If you want more, slots two and three can each take another card. The 3D Fighting Game Archive Card is in both of them, and it carries Power Stone and Power Stone 2 alongside Soul Calibur and Tekken. Click for Game List on any card to see every title it holds.
Choose the Pandora Single Panel if you want both players at one control panel like an arcade cabinet, or the Pandora Dual Panel if you would rather have two separate controllers. Power Stone moves fast and gets chaotic once both players start throwing barrels, and an arcade lever handles that kind of quick direction change well.
Sanwa makes the joysticks and buttons used in Japanese arcade cabinets. On this page you can keep Default Pandora Platinum Hardware or upgrade to Sanwa buttons, Sanwa joysticks, or both together.
Power Stone plays only on the Pandora Game Console Platinum Pro mainboard edition, and only with the archive card selected as shown. A TV is not included. The video on this page shows the game in action.
