If you like the way Street Fighter plays but wish it had teams and a bit more chaos, Rival Schools Project Justice is the game to try. We sell it here as a Pandora Game Console package on the Platinum Pro edition, played on arcade sticks rather than a pad.
Project Justice is the sequel to Rival Schools: United by Fate. Capcom released it in arcades in 2000 and brought it to the Dreamcast, where it picked up a story mode and a big unlockable cast. It is a 2.5D fighter, meaning 3D models fighting along a 2D plane, and the inputs will feel familiar to anyone raised on quarter circles and dragon punches.
Each side picks three students. The twist is the team-up attack: spend meter and your partners jump in for a combined super, and with three on a team you get the big three-person version too. Every school has its own team-up animations, and a lot of them are very funny. Batsu, Hinata and Kyosuke from Taiyo High are the faces of the series, and Roy, Tiffany, Boman, Akira, Hayato and Momo fill out a long list. Beat the game and more characters unlock.
That system is why it works so well on a two player panel. Matches are short and swing hard, and the team-ups give both players something to watch for.
Project Justice is added on an archive card that you select on this page. It is on the 3D Fighting Game Archive Card, which also has the original Rival Schools from the PS1, plus Power Stone 2, Tech Romancer and Plasma Sword from Capcom, and Tekken 3, Soul Calibur and Bloody Roar 2 from everyone else. You can make the panel feel and play like a Japanese arcade machine with official Sanwa joysticks and buttons, or upgrade just one of the two. Default Pandora Platinum Hardware stays as it is.
Optional extras on this page include the 3 and 4 Player Arcade Games Archive, Mario Kart Madness & Friends, the Mortal Kombat Life Retro Archive Card, Neo Geo, Retro Arcade and, in the third slot, Run & Gun. Pick "No Additional Game Archive" to skip a slot. The first slot is different. "No Game Card - YOU WONT HAVE ANY GAMES!" means the console ships empty.
