Run & Gun Games List Archive Card Pandora Game Console

One hit and you are back at the checkpoint

The Run & Gun Games List Archive Card is for people who like their games fast and a little cruel. Run and gun games are pure reflex, and this card pulls the good ones from arcades and home consoles over the last 40 years. All of them were tested on the Pandora Platinum hardware before they went on the card.

It is Contra and Metal Slug territory first. Around those two series sits a handful of Genesis and Super Nintendo games that never got the attention they deserved, plus a couple of PlayStation oddities most people missed.

Where the games come from

The arcade side has Contra, Super Contra, Midnight Resistance and Rolling Thunder, with Berzerk for anyone who wants to go back to where the genre started. The Neo Geo brings the whole Metal Slug run, from the first game through Metal Slug 6 plus Metal Slug X, along with Shock Troopers.

On the home consoles, the ones we would play first are Contra 3 The Alien Wars on the Super Nintendo, Contra Hard Corps and Gunstar Heroes on the Genesis, and Gunners Heaven on the PS1. Gunstar Heroes was the first game Treasure ever released, and it still looks like a studio showing off. Mega Man X is on here too, for the run and gun fans who also like a boss pattern to memorize.

That is roughly a third of the card. Click for Game List in the builder for the rest.

Why a real stick helps

Run and gun games punish a sloppy diagonal. An 8-way arcade joystick gives you clean aim in every direction, and the Sanwa joystick upgrade is the sharpest version of that. Metal Slug in particular rewards quick, exact inputs, since you are often jumping and firing at an angle in the same moment. Two-player Contra on one panel is still a good way to test a friendship.

Card slots and compatibility

Add the Run & Gun Games List Archive Card to any of the three card slots when you build your Pandora Game Console. Cards plug in at the back and can be swapped any time.

The card runs on Pandora Platinum Pro consoles and nothing else. Earlier Pandora Platinum models are not compatible, and the same goes for consoles built on a non Pandora Platinum mainboard.

A note that comes with the game list: archived games may be removed at any time if we deem it necessary, and we cannot promise expected performance of your backup. The console warranty does not cover archive cards.

**Pandora Game Console consoles do not come with any pre-installed licensed or unlicensed software. Any Added Archive service is provided as-is with no implied warranties or licenses. Performance of archive has been tested and will work with your Pandora Platinum Pro version console. Adding an archive card constitutes your acknowledgement of ownership of original licensed hardware/software and your request of the service permits us to perform archiving for you on your behalf as a service.
