About this product
The Simpsons Arcade Game is Konami's 1991 beat 'em up starring Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa, and this Pandora Game Console package plays the four-player arcade version. The story is pure cartoon: Smithers grabs Maggie during a jewel heist, and the family chases him across Springfield to get her back from Mr. Burns.
The Simpsons is the longest running animated show on American TV, and this was the first time a lot of fans got to play as the family. Each character fights in their own way. Marge swings a vacuum cleaner, Bart has his skateboard, Lisa uses a jump rope, and Homer just throws punches. Two characters standing next to each other can team up for a combined attack, and with a full group that happens a lot.
The original cabinet had four sets of controls, and the Pandora Game Console can match it. This page includes a choice called Add 3rd & 4th Player Wireless Arcade Sticks. Pick "Add 3rd & 4th Player Arcade Sticks" and two more players can join, so the whole family plays at once. Keep the "Standard 2 Player Setup" if it is usually just you and one friend. You can still play all four characters, just two at a time.
The rest of the hardware choice is the console style: Pandora Dual Panel, Pandora Single Panel or the Pandora Wireless 2 Joystick Separated Edition.
The game itself comes on the 3 and 4 Player Arcade Games Archive Card, the only game card offered in the first slot here, where it is listed as Simpsons - Arcade 4 Player. Skip it and the menu spells out the result: "No Game Card - YOU WONT HAVE ANY GAMES!" The card is full of games from the same era that were made for a crowd around a cabinet:

Konami kept the controls simple: a joystick, an attack button and a jump button. That makes it a good first game for anyone who has never stood at an arcade panel. If you want the parts used in Japanese arcade cabinets, choose "Get the Official Sanwa Upgrade?" and upgrade the buttons, the joysticks or both. Default Pandora Platinum Hardware is the other option.
Slot two offers the 3D Fighting Game Archive Card, Mario Kart Madness & Friends, Mortal Kombat Life Retro or the Retro Arcade Games List Archive. Slot three has the Run & Gun Games List Archive, 3D Fighting, Mario Kart Madness & Friends or Retro Arcade. You can also leave both set to No Additional Game Archive and add cards another time. There is a gameplay video on this page if you want to see the Simpsons running on the Pandora Platinum Pro mainboard.
